2021: KL Rahul called again, Punjab Kings beat Mumbai Indians by nine wickets. This was Punjab's second win in five matches, while champions Mumbai suffered their second defeat in five matches. After this victory, Punjab team is now in the fifth position in the points table.

 



CHENNAI: Captain Lokesh Rahul's unbeaten 60 and Chris Gayle's unbeaten 43 helped Punjab Kings beat defending champions Mumbai Indians by nine wickets in an IPL match on Friday. After stopping Mumbai for a paltry 131 for six in 20 overs, Punjab scored 132 for one in 17.4 overs to clinch the victory. This was Punjab's second win in five matches, while champions Mumbai suffered their second defeat in five matches. After this victory, Punjab team is now in the fifth position in the points table.

Punjab won the toss and elected to field first. Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma top-scored with 63 off 52 balls with five fours and two sixes while Surya Kumar Yadav scored 33 off 27 balls with three fours and a six. Karen Pollard hit an unbeaten 16 off 12 balls with the help of a six.

Quentin de Kock scored three, Ishan Kishan six, Hardik Pandya one and Colonel Pandya three. Punjab bowlers performed well so that Mumbai batsmen could score 49 runs for the loss of two wickets in the first 10 overs. Muhammad Shami took two wickets for 21 runs in four overs. Spinner Ravi Bishnoi also took two wickets for 21 runs, Deepak Hooda took one wicket for 15 runs and Arsh Deep Singh took one wicket for 28 runs.
